Planning Your Trip to New Orleans for Plastic Surgery

Out of Town Patients

Ask anyone in any city and they will tell you there is no other place quite like New Orleans. Known as the “Big Easy” far and wide, our city is rich with culture, history, and eclectic Southern charm. Dr. Jansen & Dr. Tandon’s private practice offers patients two convenient locations within New Orleans for plastic surgery, including Metairie, as well as Thibodaux. We are honored to have patients visit us from throughout the city as well as from all over the U.S. For out-of-town patients who choose to have plastic surgery with the Jansen Plastic Surgery team, we hope you will find this information useful as you plan your trip to our wonderful city.

Off-Site Consultation

Dr. Jansen & Dr. Tandon are able to provide initial consultations by phone or Skype. We will review photographs, discuss any concerns and desires, and then from there, schedule an in-office appointment for an in-person evaluation. Sometimes, surgery can be scheduled for the very first visit, especially if our patients are traveling from far away. Dr. Jansen & Dr. Tandon will provide a thorough treatment plan, and then our surgical coordinator will work with you on surgical fees, scheduling information, accommodations, and if needed, private nursing.

What to Expect

All patients who are traveling into New Orleans from long distance and are scheduled to have a plastic surgery procedure that requires general anesthesia must arrive at least one day prior to the surgery. This is to ensure that our clinical team has enough time to conduct all of the appropriative pre-operative steps and to safely complete the necessary tests. In addition, paperwork will need to be filed with the surgical center.

Planning Your Trip

NOLA offers something for everyone. It is literally a melting pot of culture, entertainment, food and music. To get a true feel for our city, there are various places within the city that you can choose to plan your stay at, or convenient lodging close to our plastic surgery center. Our entire team will be waiting to help you in any way that we can to take some of the guesswork out of planning your trip.

Flying In: Airports

Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (http://www.flymsy.com) is the most convenient way to fly into our city. This airport, known as MSY when planning your reservations, has modern facilities that meet the demands of flyers from all across the world. Located just about 15 minutes away from both of our plastic surgery offices, this airport offers many flight options from numerous carriers.

On the Ground: Transportation

When in New Orleans, taxicabs are plentiful. Depending on where you stay, most of the hotels in the area offer free shuttle service. If you are coming in early to sightsee, we recommend using one of many rental car agencies that can be found at the airport. A typical cab ride from the airport to the central business district of NOLA is about $35.00. Your hotel shuttle should be able to get you to and from Dr. Jansen’s surgery center. Depending on the recovery process you will be undergoing, we will help determine your needs so that you can arrive safety back to your hotel to rest.

Hotels

Located just minutes from the Jansen plastic surgery practice in Metairie, LA are a couple of highly recommended hotels to choose from for convenience and outstanding amenities.

This is an outstanding value, beautifully decorated hotel that offers deluxe accommodations including microwaves and refrigerators within each guest room. This is not your typical Best Western. Restaurants

Whether it is classic Cajun jambalaya, award-winning French cuisine, dinner at the famous ACME Oyster House, or a charming coffee and baguette at Café Du Monde, the options are endless. While there are many dining options near Dr. Jansen’s plastic surgery offices, we recommend at least venturing into the square a few times for the food alone. New Orleans is known for some of the most unique and diverse restaurants in the nation.

Attractions

What to do in New Orleans will depend on the time of year you arrive for your procedure. If it is during Mardi Gras in the late winter, this carnival speaks for itself and deserves at least a few hours of people watching. New Orleans has countless museums, historical monuments, and attractions. In addition to the French Quarter, there is the Garden District, Frenchmen Street, Swamp and Cemetery Tours, and the popular St. Louis Cathedral. The list is long so make it worth your while to come in a couple of days ahead of your surgery and get your fill of this outstanding city.
