DIEP flap breast reconstruction

This 54 year old woman had a left breast cancer. We performed a right mastopexy and left tissue expander placement at the time of the mastectomy. This was done so as to not delay the chemotherapy. After the chemotherapy was finished, we built a breast using the DIEP flap. She was in the hospital for 3 days and did great after. She returned to work 3 weeks after her surgery and has been very happy with her breast.
